About
I'm Brian Thackston — writer, attorney*, and the keeper of this catalog.
I write essays, mostly on the long side, mostly about reading, the practice of law, the frontier where AI is doing something to both, and whatever else I have been thinking about hard enough to sit down with. The site is built around the writing; the rest of it — the recommendations, the travel notes, the tools and the wardrobe — exists because I keep these lists anyway, and a private list eventually wants to become a public one.
I work day to day on a small handful of projects at the intersection of legal practice and software. I will not bore you with the elevator pitches; if any of them is interesting, you'll find it linked below.
Currently working on
Em-Dash
A long-running writing project, of which this site is the public face. The name is also the punctuation I use most.
A small AI-and-law practice
Quietly building tools for lawyers who would prefer not to write the same memo twice.
The OnlyFans page
A bit. It lives down the hall.
