Privacy

The short version: this site uses analytics cookies. The data tells me what people read. You can opt out and the writing reads the same.

What this site collects

Standard analytics — page views, referrer, anonymized IP, country, browser, screen size. The data is collected via Google Tag Manager and forwarded to Google Analytics. It is aggregate; it is not used to build a profile of you across the web.

Subscribing to the newsletter, or asking for a downloadable PDF on the Resources page, sends your name and email to Resend (the transactional email provider this site uses). Nothing else is shared. You can ask me to delete that record at any time by writing to privacy@brianthackston.com.

Emails I send include open and click tracking through Resend: a small invisible image records whether a message was opened, and links route through a tracking redirect that records clicks. I use this only to see which writing lands — it is tied to your subscription, never sold or shared. If you would rather not be measured, read with images turned off (which defeats open tracking) or unsubscribe; every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

For measurement and advertising, this site uses Google Analytics 4 and advertising pixels from Meta, TikTok, and LinkedIn. These help me understand which writing reaches people and, where I run ads, measure results and show relevant follow-ups. They load through the consent banner — opt out and they do not load. I do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

This site sets one functional cookie of its own: cookie_consent (granted or denied), stored for one year, used to remember whether you opted out of analytics. Google Analytics sets its own analytics cookies when consent is granted; those are documented at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

How to opt out

Click Opt out on the banner that appears on your first visit. Your choice is remembered for a year. To change your mind later, clear the cookie_consent cookie for this domain — the banner returns and you can pick again.
