How self-interested can we be? Another set of terrifying tales from the twisted mind of Ari Aster that's excellent and unsettling and hopefully far from the truth.

Ari Aster is masterful at making unsettling films. This one is no different. It looks back at the COVID years in a small town and peels away layer after layer of hypocrisy, self-serving, and some of the more pathetic parts of the human condition.

What he gives us here is a depressing view into "both sides" with mayoral decision-making and mentally touched in the head families that I can only hope is far from the truth for most folks.

At the heart of it, it's another tale of identity and how self-interest drives decisions into some unusual directions. But this rendition has a touch of data centers and capitalism given the scope of the town-life for his story here.

I recommend regardless of the side of the fence you sit on. And sitting on the fence is uncomfortable, so I find it best to hop to each side to serve myself along with others who need it.
