Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Weird Al's performances are always memorable. He hooks into popular culture and gives you something silly to further enjoy it.

As the legend goes, he's one of the kindest and most thoughtful performers there are -- for his audience and for the source material he's parodying. And if it was easy to do that there'd be countless others just like him. But we only have the one Weird Al. And he goes in the echelons with Mister Rogers, albeit a bit less timeless.

This movie, however, may end being a timeless comedy for me. It's well executed by Daniel Radcliffe and the gang, especially in that it goes in wildly insane and unexpected directions, ultimately wrapping itself up as a crime drama. But the musical bits, the delivery and the timing of the brilliant lines, each and every twist and turn and nook and cranny in this movie is good.

But if you cannot laugh at songs like "Eat it", "Amish Paradise" and the like then you probably won't laugh as hard as I did at this movie. And that's okay, because absurdism isn't everyone's cup of tea.
