Alarmo
Nintendo
$100 / one-time

Motion sensors let you snooze with a wave and stop the alarm just by getting out of bed. Steady, Gentle, and Button modes; sleep tracking; hourly chimes and sleepy sounds; and an ever-growing list of game soundtrack themes.
But to me the highlights are:
- it’s a nice clock for my bedroom, and
- it senses when you get into bed and can play “sleepy sounds” like Breath of the Wild’s campfire and ambient noises for 1 min, 2 min, or 10 mins to help you get locked into some quality sleepy time.
Your sleep tracking data stays stored and locked to the device (i.e. there’s no logging into your My Nintendo account to see Sleep Metrics) so it’s generally useless for me relative to Google Health’s data via my watch. But that means it’s safely and responsibly stored, not sold, etc. And I am a major champion of health data, even moreso when you’re gamifying with the brilliance of Nintendo’s creative genius (also see: Wii Fit, Brain Age, and the impact those had on senior citizen communities; I was there Gandalf, working in a nursing home seeing a new light in people’s eyes as gaming wisely expanded).
Otherwise, it’d be nice to be able to have some more customization but I definitely won’t cry about it.
If you know what you’re getting when you go into it, it’s a great clock + sleeping sound device + alarm that beats your phone alone.
