Cult of the Lamb
Rouge-likes wear thin on me. This is allegedly cut from a bit of a different cloth.
I love all games. But there are different strokes for different folks and rougelikes rub me the wrong way.
I don't mind repeating things to some degree. The joy of finally overcoming a barrier that has thwarted you can be immensely satisfying. But when you only have so much time to give to games, ones that keep you on a steady narrative progression path are my jam vs. those that gate with mindless git gud reflexive memorization.
The highly stylized gorgeous animation, cult-narrative leaning mechanics all seem to point towards this being a good one. Hades and Hades 2 had a lot of that stylization (along with incredible voice acting, which this does not), but at some point I just get too tired of repeating runs, even with the joy of my improving skills and trickled progressions.
We shall see with this one!
