The 'Burbs
Celeste Hughey
I heard (from my BritBox loving mother) that this is a fun mystery show. And it was fine. Some great characters and all the elements for an intriguing Scooby crew that entertains.

I try to note things that are "parent-friendly" (as well as Sunday-funday options to combat the fear and loathing that sometimes descends and is exacerbated by tense entertainment). Well this one is mother tested, so we shall see if child approved.
The 'Burbs is a decent one. Fun red herrings here and there. And a great set of actors that span the gamut of characters you might meet in suburbia. So it's a pretty fun slice of life.
That said, I didn't really like the mystery arc on this one. The red herrings were a bit ham-handed and the ultimate wrap up simply wasn't very satisfying for me as a reveal (explanation-ish —> k thx bye).
I enjoyed my time in particular with the three neighbors in the Scoobies assembled here. But different strokes for different folks and for folks like my mother who crave mysteries this is a fine new show recommendation for the mystery queue and maybe it’ll find stronger footing with a second season.
