The History of Concrete
John Wilson
John Wilson's spiraling, splintering thought patterns make almost too much sense when he's storytelling. This movie from him lets you hear his thoughts about concrete and just a bit at the world at large these days (just a few years removed from his TV show).

Do you like the TV show How To with John Wilson? Well if so, then do I ever have a movie for you. This movie is essentially another episode of John Wilson's HBO show (which was recently named number 80 on The New York Times 100 Best Shows of the 21st Century).
What does the movie do differently than the show? Nothing. And that's fine, as the Buddhist monks have taught many of us.
It's the same show that was almost always incredible. And similarly, John works through his post-show "what do I create next" existential project questions right in front of us which have seemingly led him right back to where he was prior with change being inescapable. How to drink wine and many of our favorite bits from the prior series return effortlessly.
In the movie we even get to go to a convention where you meet interesting folks as per usual (and most where it seems like punching down on occasion, a la Nathan Fielder, who made an appearance amongst a number of celebrity face-drops).
It's all quite poetic as he is wont to do but it's yet again mostly hilarious as he cuts his knack for rare footage with the perfect voiceover. I wish John stuck more with the AI items and the industry impact but he didn't linger in his typical scatterbrain-ish style.
The last chapter's musical act was definitely the star of the show. A semi-punch down attempt turning into something hilarious and sad and beautiful.
I recommend this wholeheartedly, much like his show How To with John Wilson.
