If you got poop on you, you'd be washing that body part immediately. So, why are you okay with wiping your butt with paper only?

A bidet becomes non-negotiable upon first using your own. Because sampling a friends just doesn't have the same feeling as using your own butthole-washing device. It's almost like using somebody else's toothbrush.

If you are not sold on the idea of using water to properly clean your tushy like a civilized person, you may have some other issues to work through (culturally, spiritually, etc) so if that's the case then you can try tackling those first and returning here. Or, you use this despite your reservation and then uncouple other troubled notions plaguing you.

Anyhoo, I hesitated because of cost and complexity, i.e. renting in an apartment, scared to do plumbing, etc. But they're cheap (mine was $80 of the best dollars I ever spent) and installation is not that bad (and a handyman or knowledgeable acquaintenance is not a real barrier).

If you're jacked up, please talk to a doctor

This is not medical advice. Talk to a doctor if your sinus or bum or other things are bothering you.

For example, the Neti Pot, which similarly uses water to cure you of ailments, was suggested to me by the 3rd ENT I consulted regarding some frequent sinus issues I had. And this is simply what has worked for me and some others!

The bidet is also a lindy concept — simply splashing water can gently wash away quite a bit. It's smart, efficient, but it isn't any sort of medical intervention if you need actual medical help.
