Givenchy Men's Gentleman Boisee EDP
Givenchy
$75 / bottle

There is factual information I can provide about this cologne: Black pepper, coriander, geranium, iris, cedar, cacao pod, sandalwood, patchouli, woodsy accord.
But I am not that sophisticated (yet?) in way similar to that of wine (and note here: also see How To with John Wilson S2E2). And while I may not be able to smell or taste like the pros, I do know I like what I like. And I like this.
Gentleman Boisee by Givenchy makes me feel like a gentleman. A sophisticated, slightly wooden dapper gentleman. So this has become my go-to.
I discovered this cologne thanks to a Macy's 12-days of Christmas sampler that had this and 11 other scents. This is my favorite (and I've had some validation as to it being a good match for me).
Outside this, I'm rotating in two others from that set for slightly different seasons and occasions -- MontBlanc Men's Explorer Platinum EDP and Paco Rabanne Men's Million Gold Intense EDP. And now that I've established something, I'm exploring Phantom and Invictus from ol' Paco when those samples arrive.
If you're looking for a cologne, do not get this. Get a sampler. Spray one on each day and see where you're at 1 hour, 4 hours, and then 8 hours into it. Everyone's nose is different. Everyone's skin is different. What works for me may not work for you, so see what you like rather than listening the nose-blind lunatics on Reddit or elsewhere.
And final note: Get the sampler from a Macy's or other retailer. Buy the big bottle from a Jomashop or other discounter (or dupe shop, whatever) because let's be real here.
